Theatre Etiquette

Whether it’s your first time visiting Laycock Street Community Theatre, or you’re a regular, here are some tips to help you enjoy your experience.

Arrive On Time (Or Better Yet, Arrive Early!)
We don’t want anyone to miss even one moment of the performance. However, please be aware that some events have a designated ‘lock out’ period to prevent disruptions during the opening moments of the show. We encourage all patrons to arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance start time. This will allow you ample time find a parking spot, visit the bar and the restroom, and relax.

Supervision of Children
Children must be supervised by a responsible adult or guardian at all times. No running is permitted in the venue.

Phones
Checking texts, emails or social media throughout an event can be very disruptive for your fellow audience members, as well as the performers on stage. We encourage all patrons to turn their mobile devices to silent mode, or off, and refrain from using them throughout the performance.

Filming/Photography
In most cases, filming and photography throughout the performance is not permitted. Please listen for pre-show announcements before the performance commences.
Listen and Enjoy
The performers on stage have been working hard to bring you the best possible performance. Talking or singing along is disruptive for both those on stage, and those around you. Of course, if the performers ask you to sing along, then do so! Show your appreciation through applause and cheering at the end of numbers.

Dress Code
There is no official dress code for Laycock Street Community Theatre. Some people like to dress up, others prefer smart casual. Please wear appropriate clothing – and footwear must be worn at all times. The Theatre temperature can feel cold for some people, so bring a jacket to be more comfortable.

Smoking/Vaping
Smoking/vaping on the premises, and within 10 metres of any external doorway is not permitted.

Listen To Our Staff
You may be asked to leave the Theatre if you, or someone in your group, is disruptive and does not comply with the instructions from our Patron Services team. Our role is to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all patrons. Patrons who use offensive, threatening language, cause a disturbance or refuse to comply with requests made by venue staff will be asked to leave, and their ticket will not be refunded.

Ask For Help
Our staff are here to assist you. If you have any questions or concerns throughout your time in the venue, please do not hesitate to approach a member of our team.
