Our libraries have a variety of literacy programs for preschool children of all ages that run during school term only. Find your preferred program and location below. Bookings are not required.
Please note at all children under 12 years of age must be supervised during these events.
Pre-school Age Programs
Babytime
Babytime is a special program of songs, rhymes and simple stories for infants aged from 0 to 24 months. It provides a fun session of songs, rhymes and a chance to read with your baby.

Toddlertime
Toddlertime aims to develop language, literacy and numeracy skills for children aged 2-3 years as well as help parents better engage with their children through songs, stories and activities.

Storytime
Storytime encourages a love of reading and creativity for preschool children aged 3-5 years using stories, songs and a fun craft activity.

Craft activities for preschoolers
Toddler Craft Club
Toddler Craft Club is an opportunity for toddlers and their parents to enjoy some simple, fun craft activities at the library. Have fun whilst helping to develop your child’s imagination, creativity and fine motor skills. Bring a smock or old clothes as we will get messy! No bookings required.

Creative construction programs
LEGO Club
Let your imagination go wild with Lego in the library! Our collection of LEGO will be available for you to build anything you like or work on a theme as a group. Build solo or with friends.
Lego is great for developing hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, creativity, expressive language and problem solving skills.

DUPLO Club
Playing with Duplo is not only fun - it's a chance for your little one to practice problem solving, fine motor skills and develop their descriptive vocabulary. We will supply the Duplo for your child to explore their creativity. For preschool aged children.

Enjoy your Favourite stories read by a diverse range of storytellers - sportspeople, musicians, grandparents, teenagers, comedians, actors, with varying accents and from different cultures.

Pre-recorded Storytime Sessions on YouTube
Discover a range of recorded Storytime sessions on the Council’s Coast Connect YouTube channel for you to enjoy with your child whilst staying home. Best of all, if they really love a story, you can replay it as much as you like. Discover a wide range of diverse stories from our Children’s and Youth Library team as well as Council’s Environmental Education and Community Education teams. You can also view filmed events and programs ranging from magic shows and animal encounters through to STEAM challenges.
Online Fun
Visit our eLibrary to access online fun for children including - Parker Platypus stories, MIT Scratch Coding, as well as eBooks and eAudiobooks for children.
Children @ your library Facebook Group
Join our private Children @ your library Facebook group and stay up-to-date with the latest events and information. Agree to our group rules to access this popular group focussing on children’s resources, events and activities.
Bookblasts
Join us for some chats about what you are reading, watching or listening to. This Bookclub, especially for primary school aged children, usually meets at Erina Library but has moved online whilst the libraries are closed due to lockdown.
