“In the history of humanity, this was the greatest time to be a young person. Nothing else is even close.”
It was on July 13, 1985 that 1.9 billion people and nearly 40% of the world’s population, united for Live Aid & a series of 3 epic concerts broadcast from London, Philadelphia & Sydney. More than a concert, Live Aid became a global phenomenon and a touchstone for the 80’s, as the youth of the world came together in music, passion and hope.
Now celebrating the 39th Anniversary of this incredible day, Punwin Productions proudly presents the Australian premiere of a new two-hour stage show that relives the magic of Live Aid around the world. Starring 80’s original Paul Field (The Cockroaches who supported Bob Geldof on tour!) and coming to The Laycock Street Theatre on 21 July 2024, “Live Aid: The Songs and Stories” resurrects this legendary global event with big-screen backdrops, exclusive videos and live performances of the biggest Live Aid hits on stage.
“Live Aid: The Songs and Stories” plays over 20 of the biggest hits on stage from artists like Status Quo, Queen, Elton John, Dire Straits, Phil Collins, Spandau Ballet, Nik Kershaw, Simple Minds, Madonna, The Cars, The Pretenders & more, plus classics from the dynamic Oz for Africa concert that saw Mondo Rock, The Angels, INXS and many more take their music to the world stage.
Hosted by international entertainment reporter, Maurice Parker (Simon Townsend’s Wonder World & 7 Network), “Live Aid: The Songs and Stories” also features exclusive big-screen appearances by those who graced the Live Aid stages as we recount behind-the-scenes secrets and the spontaneous moments that gave Live Aid its’ own special place in the history books.
So, join us in celebrating this unique event; as we remember where we were, travelling back to the heart of the 80’s and the Live Aid concerts that transcended borders and touched every corner of the globe.
