Beauty and the Beast JR

Tues 13 Jan – Sat 17 Jan

Beauty and the Beast JR. is a one-hour musical adaptation of Disney’s classic tale.  It follows a curious, kind-hearted girl named Belle, who trades her freedom to save her father from a fearsome Beast.  Unknown to her, the Beast is a cursed price, who must learn to love and be loved in return, in order to break the spell.

As Belle and the Beast grow closer, the enchanted castle servants like Lumière, Cogsworth, and Mrs. Potts cheer them on, hoping for transformation.  With memorable songs like “Be our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast”, this magical story celebrates love, kindness and inner beauty.

Friday 16th January, 7.30pm – Larna Duddy (understudy to Belle) will play the role of Belle at this performance

Duration – 1 hour

Wednesday 14 January 10.30am – Relaxed performance

Relaxed performances are open to everyone, including people who are autistic, people with sensory sensitivities, and anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed environment.

What to expect:
At our sensory friendly performance, we encourage audience members to be themselves – feel free to make sounds, move your body, fidget, stim and use noise-cancelling headphones.

Modifications include:
* Bells will not be used in the foyer to announce show time, instead, staff will give verbal indication that it is time for patrons to find their seats.
* During the performance, Theatre lighting will remain on at a dim level.  The volume of the show and sound effects will also be toned down.
* The Don Craig Studio will be open as a dedicated quiet space for patrons who require a break in a quiet, low sensory space.
We will have a pre-show welcome where the main characters will come out on stage to introduce themselves and explain some of the effects of the show (e.g. smoke, sound effects), particularly highlighting scenes that may have higher sensory impact.
We hope that the inclusion of a sensory friendly performance means that more people can comfortably access the theatre, and enjoy this wonderful show.

We look forward to welcoming you!
