‘In the Key of Swing’ with Bathtub Gin Orchestra

Wednesday 12 Aug

LAYCOCK PRESENTS MORNING MELODIES

Vintage jazz, Parisian flair, and dancefloor mischief

The Bathtub Gin Orchestra serves up an intoxicating brew of 1920s stomp, early ’30s swing, and French gypsy jazz, laced with manouche fiddle, “Django” guitar, and a generous splash of New Orleans spirit.

It’s the party music of the early 20th century, shaken and stirred into a rollicking live show.

This swinging sextet features Phoebe Haselden (violin/vocals), Morgan Haselden (guitar/vocals), Dorian Mode (piano/vocals), Brendan Berlach (clarinet), Fiona Lugg (double bass), and Toby Hall (drums).

Expect some of Dorian’s original tunes celebrating local colour, alongside classic Gypsy jazz designed to get toes tapping and feathers shaking.

Think two parts prohibition jazz, one part Parisian mischief—poured into an iron bathtub and stirred with a broom handle until everyone’s a little giddy on the good vibes.
